Art Print Backstory:

I am a life long cannabis enthusiast and avid music lover and concert goer. After I saw the Dirty Heads play on a private beach in the Caribbean, I knew I was hooked forever. I have probably attended at least 50 Dirty Head shows over the years, from the east coast to the west coast, to the middle of the ocean.

Continuing my Smokers Series,  I chose a fantastically dramatic photo by Anthony Michael from Gentle Giant Photography as my inspiration. Using acrylic paints I interpreted his image into my own creation of one of my absolute favorite musical artist, Jared Watson, making sure to include a homage to his glorious flowing locks. I decided on a backdrop of Huntington Beach, with it's clear skies, low lying clouds, and long wide beaches. Continuously listening to the entire Dirty Heads library, as well as Sword Beach, I kept repeating the lyrics "Palm leaves as my Awning" while painting. So, I present "Getting High, Shangri La, Now I'm Living Free" 12 x 24 acrylic on stretched duck cotton canvas. I hope you enjoy this painting in the series, and the many more to come!
